Too much sugar in our cereal says Which?
breakythumb.jpgBreakfast is considered by many to be the most important meal of the day, but for adults and children alike it can be incredibly difficult to find a healthy way to start the day due to companies who insist on piling more sugar into our favourite breakfast cereals.
Of the 100 tested cereals 31 contained more than four teaspoons of sugar per recommended serving; even more shockingly only one of the 28 cereals specifically marketed at children were found not to be high in sugar, but still had a high salt content. With only 8% of children’s cereals falling into the acceptable Food Standards Agency guidelines for sugar, it is clear that something needs to be done.
